A Word from the Program Director

 As the program director, my focus has always been to offer classes that will leave you feeling both exhilarated and fit. My certified, experienced and professional staff adds a variety of choices to our group fitness schedule. I hope you are as excited about these programs as I am. Please, join us and lets kick into high gear together as we strengthen our bodies as well as our spirits.

Personal Training

 For anyone looking for a one-on-one workout, the Ladies Circuit, Cardio Theater, Weightroom, Pilates, Step Aerobics, Low Impact Aerobics, Water Fusion, Ball, Tubes and Body Bar are all available to you in a personalized workout. You set your goals and together we would strive to achieve them. Cost is $25 for a 30-minute session or $45 plus tax for a one-hour long session (by appointment only).


Pilates & Weight Training

Pilates is a series of exercises that focus on your core or center that translates to your abdominal and back muscles. The foundation of this class is the breath, which helps activate your abdominal muscles - the secret to flattening those abs! The weight training will decrease your body fat and give strength, tone and definition to the existing muscles. A variety of equipment such as dumbells, body bar, resist a band, and balls are utilized in this class.

Pilate Class - Koinonia School of Sports...offering a family friendly atmosphere where you and your children can enjoy gymnastics, swimming, karate, dance and much more. Summer camp located in Thompson, CT.

Water Fusion

Our Water Fusion Class incorporates three styles of mind-body movements. Pilates will focus on the power you create from your body's center. Tai Chi will cleanse the mind, body and spirit by releasing tension and Yoga will help you to experience your body rebalancing, release stress and feel energized while in the comfortable, supporting and nurturing environment of our indoor heated pool. Feel free of any and all restrictions that are present in gravity designed fitness programs. Allow yourself to be without judgment, corrections or competition. ~This class is not designed to be an aerobic workout.


Waterobics - Koinonia School of Sports...offering a family friendly atmosphere where you and your children can enjoy gymnastics, swimming, karate, dance and much more. Summer camp located in Thompson, CT.

Waterobics & Deep Waterobics

Come join in the fun! Waterobics (Water Aerobics) can accommodate all levels of fitness. Consider us if you are limited in movement due to arthritis, have back, knee or hip problems, are overweight, pregnant, out of shape or just looking to try something new and different. Our pool is maintained at 86 degrees or warmer.

Our Deep Waterobics program uses float-belts and noodles to get a fun and effective workout in the water. Remember that the water offers 12 times more resistance than the same movements performed on land. No swimming skills are necessary.


Sr. Aquatics

For those of you who are young at heart and would enjoy an invigorating workout with a group of friends, Koinonia's Sr. Aquatics program is the place for  you! Everyone works at their own ability. We put an emphasis on cardiovascular training, range of motion improvement, flexibility and increasing the strength of your muscles. This is ideal for keeping your mobility strong and will benefit those suffering from joint and arthritis problems. No swimming skills are necessary. Class length is 30 minutes long with a 30-minute recreational swim.


Gentle Yoga

This workout will focus on a mind-body connection. We will use simple stretches to relieve your stresses and ease your tensions. With a balanced series of Yoga poses, we will both strengthen and lengthen your muscles from head to toe. Seated chair yoga will also be offered.


Cardio Kickboxing Plus

Instructor, Jennifer Reynolds, has been teaching Cardio Kickboxing Plus at Koinonia for more than ten years. Her experience in martial arts, as an instructor as well as a personal trainer will benefit those who participate in her class regularly. You will find an increase in flexibility and endurance, tone hard to target muscle groups, lose weight (when combined with a healthy diet), become more confident while learning martial arts and boxing skills. Receive helpful hints about your workout, get your aggressions out, feel the effects of a total body workout and over all – Feel Better! This class incorporates: bag work, step aerobics free weights, yoga ball, and much more. Join us in this intense class and kick and punch your way through it. Beginners are always welcome. Class is one hour long.

Jenn also tries to offer specialty classes once a year. These classes are held for a limited time only. This year her students participated in her intense Outdoor Basic Training. This class was 6 weeks of Boot Camp drills and a lot of fun! Jenn's Mission Statement: To safely instruct the techniques needed to improve a stronger and more satisfying self image while promoting a lifestyle change for healthier, longer living.
